Is Web-based tracking the answer?

Many companies offer only a web-based tracking solution. This works fine for small companies but it’s not the answer for everyone. Manning NavComp, Inc. offers stand-alone RASTRAC^® systems, server/client systems, web-based systems, and combination systems tailored to your special needs. Let us put our 10+ years of experience in the vehicle/asset tracking field to work to help you decide which system is right for you.

What about communication?

One of the most important (and usually the most costly) parts of any real-time tracking system is the wireless communication. Don’t get locked into a system that only works with a single form of communication! Many tracking service providers only work over one or two forms of wireless communication. We work with them all, and in some cases, several different communication types at the same time. From two-way radio, to cellular, to even satellite communications, we have your solution.

Which device should I use?

RASTRAC^® supports over 50 different devices from the top manufacturers in the business. When we recommend a particular device for you it’s because we feel that it is the best solution for your needs. We do not recommend a device simply because it’s the least expensive or it’s the one we manufacture. We prefer to give you the options and let YOU decide.

When you are considering ANY tracking solution, ask if their devices can be reprogrammed to work on another system or with someone else’s software. If the answer is “No,” be careful. Many companies have decided to switch service providers because of poor service, or other issues, only to find out that the vehicle tracking devices they bought a year ago are now just expensive paperweights. You deserve a tracking system that will grow with your business!

What reports will I need?

Another important aspect of a tracking system is the reports that you can create to analyze what is going on in your business. After all, who has time to constantly watch what’s going on with your fleet throughout the entire day? When looking for a system, most people will look at the pre-canned reports that are available, but can you customize a report to your specific needs? Who knows your business better than you? Wouldn’t it be great to have a report that gives you exactly what you need?

How about technical support?

Look at your potential tracking provider's Knowledgebase. Can you pick up a phone and talk to a real human being? Do they only have a few generic FAQs? Will they let you talk to a software engineer? These are important questions. You deserve competent, caring support from your tracking provider.
